Man Utd dealt huge blow as midfield maestro out for season

Manchester United were an extremely happy club yesterday when the news regarding Memphis Depay broke, but today is a completely different story, as we learnt that we will be without Michael Carrick for the remainder of the season.

The midfield maestro has missed the last three games due to injury, and its no coincidence that United have lost all those games, failing to score in the process.

‘Carrick shall not play this season any more,’ the United manager told a press conference.’ Van Gaal added. ‘We have to focus on next season for him.’

Hopefully the injury isn’t too serious and he won’t need surgery or anything major like that. Its time for the 33-year old to concentrate on getting fit and getting a full pre-season under his belt.

Louis van Gaal will now have a huge decision to make about who to replace him in the centre. For me I’d like to see Daley Blind pay in there, with Luke Shaw coming back in at left-back.

Who should play in Carrick’s place? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
