Manchester United’s business has seemingly dried up since the Memphis Depay announcement, but there is certainly deals being lined up behind the scenes, and one player who the club are seemingly keen on is Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi.
The 28-year old has this morning confirmed he would like to leave Valencia CF for another team, and at this moment in time Louis van Gaal’s side look to be the number one destination for the Argentinian.
There is thought to be some serious competition for his signature however, with Real Madrid also keeping tabs on Otamendi – However that wouldn’t be as bad as it sounds, as Benitez’s side would surely be forced to move on one of their senior defenders, and we could be lucky enough to get Raphael Varane if Otamendi ends up at the Bernabeu.
Nico Otamendi would be a fantastic acquisition. United have lacked a real leader at the back since the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, and the club definitely need at least one experienced defender to come in and fill that void if the club are to compete for the title next May.
Would Otamendi be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
