Manchester United are determined to keep hold of David de Gea, despite the signing of Victor Valdes being all-but confirmed. The 32-year old ex-Barcelona man is expected to sign on the dotted line over the next couple of days and sign an eighteen month deal at Old Trafford – according to The Independent.
David de Gea has been United’s #1 since he made the £19million move to the club in 2011, and the fans have watched him grow from the skinny timid lad into the world-beating keeper that he is today.
The move for Victor Valdes is an obvious concern, despite large proportions of the media suggesting that he is coming in as an understudy to De Gea. You cannot help but feel that the lure of Real Madrid will eventually prove too much for the former Atletico man, and one day that move looks destined to happen despite his links to the other half of the Spanish capital.
For now though, lets enjoy the presence of two great Spanish keepers at our club, and hopefully De Gea can gain vital experience from Victor Valdes who has been there and done it all.
