Man Utd fans react to poor Anthony Martial display vs West Ham

Anthony Martial’s struggles continue, as he was disappointing against West Ham last night. The fans took to social media to share their thoughts…

Manchester United Football Club were after at least one new attacker over the summer. In the end, they’d grab two (Sancho & Ronaldo). Perhaps the reasoning behind that was due to something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seen behind the scenes.

Anthony Martial’s struggles have been evident for what feels like the best part of eighteen months. The Frenchman looks a shadow of the player who burst onto the scene with a debut goal against Liverpool.

These days, he just looks disinterested, disengaged and not all too fussed about going out there and making a difference. Whether it’s confidence, a lack of development or not starting regularly remains to be seen.

Against West Ham last night, we may well have just played with ten men. That’s how bad it was. His touch was heavy, the passing not sharp enough and the movement (or lack of) was disappointing.

When you compare his work ethic to that of Edinson Cavani, they’re in stark contrast to each other – and it doesn’t shine Martial in a positive light at all.

What’s most frustrating for me is the attitude. It honestly looks like Martial has already made his mind up and he wants to leave for pastures new. Perhaps that what both United and the player needs at this point because the performances don’t seem to be improving.

As you’d imagine, the United fans on social media were left less than impressed with what the United star had to offer. He struggled badly, that’s for sure…
