Man Utd fans unimpressed with Nemanja Matic after struggles vs AC Milan

Man United fans weren’t best-pleased with Nemanja Matic, who put in a poor shift last night against AC Milan.

Well, Manchester United certainly didn’t deserve to win last night, though throwing away the lead so late on certainly hurt.

It was a dreadful performance. Nobody can really hold their head that high, aside from Amad Diallo who came onto the field and added that little piece of quality.

Games like these are so often won (and lost) in the midfield. Last night taught me one thing. Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay simply can’t play together as they’re both just too defensive-minded.

It’s the former’s performance I’d like to focus on here. Matic looked every bit a 32-year-old at Old Trafford. There was a real lack of movement, while Milan found it far too easy to play around the ex-Chelsea star.

His passing was sloppy while positionally he got caught out on numerous occasions. Sadly, he’s at that stage in his career when the Serb doesn’t have enough gas left in the tank to play more than one game a week – and that was on full display.

To sum it all up, it was Matic who’d lose his man for the super-late Milan leveller. Yes, I’d like Dean Henderson to do far, far, better, but there shouldn’t have been a job for the Englishman to do if Matic does his duties properly. Now, United face an uphill battle to progress into the last eight.

As you can imagine, United fans were left unimpressed with the star, following his awful overall display vs AC Milan. Check out the responses below but I warn you, they make for grim reading!
