Manchester United have been given some very positive news regarding David de Gea’s contractual situation, and it couldn’t have come from a better source. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has confirmed that talks are ongoing with the club regarding a contract renewal.
The fact that they are negotiating a new deal clearly means that the shot-stopper wants to remain at old Trafford, and is happy to discuss new terms about extending his stay at the club.
“It’s not true that the deal is done,” Mendes told AS.
“I am negotiating his contract renweal but we haven’t signing anything yet. As of the moment, we will see what happens.
“We’re holding talks and at this moment it seems he could continue with United, but as I say, we haven’t signed anything yet.”
This is huge news for the club. There is no doubt that the 24-year old is well on his way to his second Player of the Year Award in a row, and stunning performances have become a regular occurrence from the man from Madrid.
