Manchester United are yet to sign a centre-back for the new season, despite conceding a bucket-load of goals with the current options available to Louis van Gaal. When you add the perennial injuries to Chris Smalling and Phil Jones which seem an inevitability, it is quite concerning.
According to John Cross who writes for the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have now identified a new target in that position, and that man is John Stones.
Stones, 21, currently plies his trade for Everton and has been subject to a huge £25million plus bid from Chelsea which was immediately rejected by the Toffees, so he would cost a pretty penny. However United want to use Jonny Evans as a makeweight in any potential transfer to lower the cost somewhat.
There is no doubting Stones’ talent, but you feel that Manchester United need experience at the moment rather than young talent, and someone with a bit more seniority would be much more beneficial at this moment in time.

Stones would be a great long term investment, get rid of Di Maria, anyone not appreciative of the honour of pulling on that red shirt needs to go! Good riddance!
