Yesterday, we covered a story from Goal which claimed that Aston Villa star Jack Grealish was ‘ready’ to join Manchester United. Well now, it seems that feeling is mutual.
According to the Sunday Express, United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have made the 24-year-old Aston Villa star their top target – with Grealish climbing above James Maddison in the process.
Apparently, interest in Maddison has cooled following the news that the Englishman is set to sign a new contract at Leicester City before the end of the winter break.
Instead, Grealish is now taking Solskjaer’s fancy, with Villa likely to demand £60m to let their boyhood hero leave should Dean Smith’s side find themselves back in the Championship next season.
The Sunday Express adds that Grealish, understandably, has a ‘queue of clubs’ lining up for his signature, though he ‘reportedly’ favours a move to Old Trafford.
It goes without saying that even following Bruno Fernandes’ arrival, there’s still a creative void within that Red Devils team – and it’s only going to get worse when Paul Pogba inevitably departs.
Grealish has that swagger and cockiness which is needed to perform at the highest level. He scored a brilliant goal against us at the Theatre of Dreams earlier on in the season – hopefully, that’s the first of many insane strikes at Old Trafford by him…
