Man Utd lurk as Real prepare to sell defensive duo

Manchester United are in desperate need of a new centre-back signing this summer, and their hopes of signing one of the finest in the world have just been boosted by Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti, as he struggles to decide which one of his talented duo to keep hold of.

According to the Daily Star, Madrid are forced to choose between Raphael Varane and Pepe, with space for only one in the squad going into next season.

It is thought that Madrid prefer to keep hold of Pepe, and once he renews that’d further Varane’s frustration at the club and effectively mean he already has one foot out of the door.

I’d love to see Raphael Varane at Manchester United. There is no doubt that he is one of the best centre-back prospects in world football, and he’s already a regular for his national team at the tender age of 21.

Pepe is 31 now, and rash tackles have always been a part of his game. Thats not something I’d want at United, especially given the physicality of the Premier League.
