Man Utd midfield maestro still being ignored by national team

Manchester United’s midfield has been much improved this season under Louis van Gaal, and a key part of that has obviously been the calmness of the England international Michael Carrick. However an extremely underrated player in our side has been Ander Herrera.

The Spaniard made the move from Athletic Club Bilbao last summer and brought some much-needed energy and ability to run with the ball to the United team, he also added an impressive eight goals in all competitions – the best goals tally in a single season in his career to date.

Despite these impressive figures and attributes, Herrera has once again been overlooked by Vicente del Bosque for Spain’s upcoming international friendlies, which in my opinion is a travesty.

The Spanish side haven’t been performing at their highest level for a couple of seasons now, so why not give some fresh faces ago instead of calling up the same drivel that haven’t been performing? You have players like Vitolo of Sevilla, Santi Cazorla of Arsenal and Mario Suarez from Atletico all getting included instead of him, and it does make you wonder that if he were still playing in the Liga BBVA would he have earned a call up by now…

Its also worth noting that David de Gea was called up by Del Bosque, but another player to miss out was Juan Mata.

Should Herrera get a Spain call up? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
