Manchester United’s midfield has come in for some criticism this season, and that all changed when Michael Carrick returned from injury and came in and controlled the middle of the park. According to the Daily Mail, the ex-Spurs man is set to pen a new contract at the club.
Carrick is currently out injured once more, with his length of absence yet to be confirmed by the club – although roughly he is thought to be out for at least another couple of weeks.
The 32-year old is currently on a £120,000-a-week deal at the club, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see United try to lower those terms somewhat as he reaches the latter stages of his professional career.
If he does sign, the deal will only be a one-year contract as its Manchester United’s policy to keep the more experienced players on a rolling twelve month deal.
