Man Utd name 27-man squad for pre-season training camp

Man United have named an incredibly youthful 27-man squad for their training camp this week.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devil’s now have one game under their belt; a 2-1 victory over Wayne Rooney’s Derby County.

Now, for Manchester United, it’s about continuing to build up those all-important fitness levels ahead of the serious stuff starting next month.

Ahead of their next game this weekend comes a pre-season training camp down in Surrey. For which, United have named an extremely youthful 27-man party. Thanks to the Manchester Evening News for the scoop.

United training camp squad:

Nathan Bishop, Lee Grant, Tom Heaton, Matej Kovar; Di’Shon Bernard, Will Fish, Teden Mengi, Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Brandon Williams; Andreas Pereira, Ethan Galbraith, James Garner, Hannibal, Daniel James, Dylan Levitt, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Facundo Pellistri; Tahith Chong, Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood, Joe Hugill, Shola Shoretire.

As you can see, there’s a whole host of talented youngsters who will be hoping to make their mark. From the likes of Anthony Elanga, who has just made his first-team breakthrough, to Hannibal Mejbri, who is banging on the door pretty hard.

I guess this was always somewhat expected due to the fact that several of the regular first-teamers have been away with their country on international duty all summer. Nonetheless, it’s always special watching academy products dazzle and shine under any circumstance.

Last time out, I was seriously impressed with Facundo Pellistri, while we all know how talented Shola Shoretire is. The latter is the standout young player at United in my opinion and I wouldn’t be shocked if he makes a genuine attempt at breaking into Solskjaer’s plans over the next few weeks.

For most of these guys, it’s about impressing the gaffer over the next handful of games, before heading out on loan to hone their talent. Sadly, there’s just not enough minutes for everyone at this point in time – so these guys will have to play their football elsewhere.

No doubt we’ll see some of these guys take to the field against QPR this coming Saturday.
