Man Utd ‘optimistic’ about signing trio for £70million

Louis van Gaal has been reportedly eyeing his summer transfer targets from as early as January, and the Iron Tulip is now readying moves to get his business done as early as possible, allowing his new signings to adapt to his philosophy quicker.

According to The Times, United are intent on signing Mats Hummels, Nathaniel Clyne and Memphis Depay this summer, in deals thought to be worth a combined £70million.

Everyone knows about Mats Hummels. The German international won the World Cup last summer, has played in a Champions League final, and grabbed a couple of Bundesliga titles whilst playing for Dortmund. His time at the club could well be up as Klopp announced he is leaving, so there is no better time to swoop for the 26-year old.

Memphis Depay is having a sensational season in the Eredivisie. He currently tops the scoring charts in that league with 19 goals from out wide – an outstanding feat. PSV representatives are resigned to losing their man this summer, and hopefully he’ll link up with his old international boss Louis van Gaal.

Finally we get to Nathaniel Clyne. He has been the outstanding performer at right-back in the Premier League this season, and he’d certainly give us some stability in that position for the first time in a few years. He is thought to cost £17million, which after English premiums, isn’t that bad at all.
