Man Utd plot £160m double-swoop for Grealish & Maddison: report

On February 10th, we covered a story from The Sunday Express which claimed that Manchester United interest in James Maddison had cooled, with Jack Grealish now topping the Red Devils’ wishlist.

However, that may not be the case if the latest report from The Sun is to be believed. According to their report, United are plotting a £160m double swoop to snap up the superstar English duo this summer. Yes, United apparently want both Grealish and Maddison.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes that their close relationship can tip the ‘mega double-raid’ in their favour.

The Sun adds that Solskjaer is also preparing for life without Paul Pogba, hence why signing only one attacker simply isn’t enough.

In terms of fees, the article state that a £90m move for Maddison should be enough, regardless of whether the Englishman signs a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

That values Grealish at around £70m, with the Englishman beginning to accept that he’ll have to leave his boyhood club Aston Villa in order to play football at the highest level.

Both Grealish and Maddison would definitely be able to function in the same team. The former is undoubtedly more suited to the left-wing, while Maddison’s exploits as a #10 have been there for all to see since moving to Leicester in 2018.

Acquiring the pair would show that United truly mean business, even if Pogba leaves. Now if we can sprinkle Jadon Sancho into the equation, then we’re looking pretty good…
