Manchester United’s reported interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan was everywhere to be seen the summer before last, but after a serious injury, the German international went off the radar for around a year. Now he is back, the rumours seem to be returning too.
According to The Metro, Louis van Gaal is ready to pounce for the signature of the 24-year old, as he is currently failing to agree to new terms in Dortmund. The midfielder has already rejected two contract offers placed on the table by the board at Borussia, and time is running out with the summer transfer window looming.
Gundogan’s contract expires in 2016, so if he fails to agree a deal in the not too distant future, Dortmund will be forced to sell him in this summer window or they’d risk losing him on a free the year after.
