Man Utd pursuit of Clyne dealt blow as Saints offer new deal

Manchester United have been dealt a minor blow in the pursuit of Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne, as the Saints are preparing a £45,000-a-week contract offer for the in-form 23-year old. The right-back’s contract expires next summer, and United are readying a swoop for the England international.

The rumours surrounding Clyne’s future have been up in the air for a couple of months now, as he stalls on a new deal at St. Mary’s.

You can hardly blame him despite Southampton’s good form, as The Mirror are claiming that both Manchester United and Chelsea are eyeing his signature.

The new £45,000-a-week contract offer on the table is only a drop in the water for the two sides in question, who could afford to pay way more than that to lure him to their respective club.

Would Clyne be a good signing? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.
