Man Utd ‘reach agreement’ with Dutch midfielder – report

Manchester United could be about to seal their first bit of summer transfer business, despite the window not being open for another four months. According to the Italian media outlet Forza Italian Football, Nigel de Jong could well switch AC Milan colours for those of United in the off-season.

The 30-year old is out of contract in the summer, and he’s believed to be demanding a £70,000-a-week deal over three years to remain in Italy. United have got wind of that, and if they meet De Jong’s demands of qualifying for the Champions League, the former City man could be playing against his old club next season.

Signing Nigel De Jong would be an astute piece of business by Van Gaal. He knows his Dutch compatriot very well having previously worked together at international level, and there is no doubts that he could come in and do a job for the club – particularly with the increase in the amount of games if United qualify for European football this season.
