Man Utd regular first-teamer once again made to play with reserves

Manchester United fans seem to have that special connection with a certain Brazilian right-back named Rafael da Silva, and that came about due to the pure passion he shows when he’s on the pitch. Sadly, under Van Gaal the 24-year old has found his chances limited.

Injuries certainly hampered the start of his season, but since then he has only played nine first-team games for Louis van Gaal’s side – with the Iron Tulip much preferring Antonio Valencia at right-back.

You have to wonder whether Rafael’s United career is all-but over already though, because United have been linked with a move for another right-back in the summer, and Antonio Valencia’s versatility certainly gives him the edge over Rafa at the moment.

James Wilson and Tyler Blackett also played in this match, both of whom have been involved with the first-team in some capacity this season.
