Man Utd seemingly drop Fonte interest to chase 6’2 towering centre-back – report

Manchester United could have well dropped their interest in Jose Fonte, in order to chase a move for another defender instead. That’s according to the latest reports, who say United officials were present at a recent SL Benfica game eyeing a new target.

The man in question is 22-year-old defender Victor Lindelof, who had a brilliant season out in Portugal, impressing United enough for them to send guys out to watch him.

There has also been other interest in the talented Swede, with the report adding both Chelsea and Inter Milan have had eyes watching Lindelof over the last few months.

Club Call add that the centre-half is under contract for another four seasons yet, and United would expect to pay in excess of £12million if they are to have any hope of signing him during this window.

It does make you concerned that United are targeting yet another youngster rather than some seniority in a key area of the field, but Jose knows exactly what he’s doing so you have to trust him.
