Man Utd ‘seriously interested’ in signing Italy international

Manchester United are clearly intent on signing a new right-back this summer. First it was Nathaniel Clyne linked to the club, then Seamus Coleman and today a new name has been thrown into the hat – Matteo Darmian of the Serie A side, Torino.

According to Sky Italy, Louis van Gaal is seriously interested in bringing the 25-year old to Old Trafford this summer, who’ll probably replace Antonio Valencia as the first-team regular.

Darmian started his career with Milan’s youth team but he failed to make an impact there, and he moved to Torino in 2011 and he has been a regular in their starting XI ever since.

He is a player I don’t know an awful lot about, but this season he has scored an impressive five goals which as a defender is a great tally. That suggests he loves attacking just as much as his defensive duties, which will fit Louis van Gaal’s style of play perfectly.

Would Darmian be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
