Man Utd set for striker switch

Robin van Persie is to leave Manchester United in the summer, with the club targeting Edinson Cavani as a potential replacement for the Dutchman. Our striker has turned into somewhat of the forgotten man recently, and it seems the Iron Tulip thinks he’s very replaceable.

According to the Daily Mirror, United will consider offers for the striker, who has one year remaining on his current contract. The Old Trafford club haven’t offered the 31-year-old a new deal yet, so a move in the summer looks likely.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has apparently already identified PSG forward Edinson Cavani as van Persie’s successor. The Uruguayan is reportedly a priority transfer target for United as the club look to revamp their current squad.

Currently out with a ligament injury, van Persie is a doubt for the upcoming Manchester Derby. Previously, the Netherlands captain has publicly said he wants to end his career where it started – in Holland.
