Manchester United have cleared an awful lot of money off the wage bill this window, despite strengthening the squad significantly this summer. That clear out looks set to continue, as Louis van Gaal prepares to sell Rafael da Silva to Lyon for a mere £2.1million, according to The Express.
Rafael, 25, hasn’t really kicked on as you’d expect, and he always seems to have a niggling injury and an extremely costly mistake in him. Whilst it would be a shame to see him go its probably in the best interests of all involved.
The £2.1million fee is a bit of a concern though, it always seems that United get ripped off when it comes to player sales, and you feel other Premier League clubs such as Chelsea would probably get somewhere closer to the £10million mark for a player of Rafa’s calibre.
