Manchester United let Nani leave the club on loan back in the summer, as a move back to Sporting Lisbon for a season was agreed. The tricky 28-year old mentioned a lack of confidence and the need for regular playing time, and he has certainly got that in Portugal.
Last night he scored one of the best goals I’ve seen this season, a ridiculous 30-yard strike on the half-volley, and afterwards he broke down in tears after an emotional but tough year.
In an interview afterwards, he said it was a personal issue that nobody knows about, hence why he was sobbing.
Personally I’d give Nani one more season to prove his worth. He’s on a long-term contract, and he’s playing absolutely brilliant football back in his home country at the moment. his confidence has built back up and on his day he is one of the most naturally gifted wingers we’ve seen at United in recent years.
