Manchester United put in their best performance of the season by far last time out against Tottenham, and one of the reasons for that was down to Juan Mata’s genius and creativity on the ball. However the clever Spaniard could be set to sit out once more, with Di Maria returning.
Reports suggest that Di Maria is going to get recalled due to his pace on the counter attack, and that his style of play is more suited for away games rather than Juan Mata because he is lightweight.
For me it’d be tough to drop Mata after such a good performance, and when you couple that with Di Maria’s poor performances of late, you do find it tough to see how he’ll be forced to miss the Liverpool game.
Hopefully Van Gaal can find a formation to fit both players in, giving United a good blend of pace and creativity, but that’d probably mean dropping Marouane Fellaini who is also in good form at the moment.
