Man Utd star striker hit with injury problem

Manchester United slumped to their first loss in twelve games at the hands of Ronald Koeman’s Southampton yesterday, and the blow was worsened with the news that star striker Robin van Persie picked up an ankle injury midway through the second half.

Van Persie, 31, was set to attend the Ballon D’or ceremony tomorrow night due to his Goal of the Year nomination, but he’ll now miss the event as he’ll undergo a scan and stay in Manchester.

Hopefully Robin won’t be ruled out for too long, because despite his hit-and-miss performances recently, he always has that ability to pull something special out of his locker. He’s a Louis van Gaal type of player and when he has the confidence, its tough to stop him.

On the flip side its a big opportunity for Radamel Falcao to show what he can do. The Columbian was bizarrely left out of the match day squad all together yesterday, and he’ll be keen to show Louis van Gaal that he made the wrong decision.
