Manchester united have had an extremely quiet January in terms of incoming transfers, which wasn’t really expected after the signing of Victor Valdes early on in the month. That could change today however, as a late bid for Mats Hummels could yet happen.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are preparing a late swoop for the Borussia Dortmund centre-half, and Louis van Gaal is preparing to fork out a huge £37million for the 26-year old.
It is thought that the deal is highly unlikely to happen, with the player himself preparing to let the chance at joining United slip to give himself more time to think about a move away from Germany in the summer.
If we could sign one player this year my pick would be Hummels. The 26-year old commands his back line brilliantly and thats exactly what we need alongside Marcos Rojo. His ability to play out from the back will also be an attractive proposition for Louis van Gaal, and he’ll always provide a threat from set pieces, too.
