Manchester United Football Club are set to return to the Champions League next season, after Louis van Gaal deployed his famous philosophy on his players and guided them to at least a fourth placed finish this term.
The club will need strengthening quite dramatically if they are to compete on all-fronts, and according to The Telegraph, Louis van Gaal has targeted these players to help him do so. Earlier today we learnt that Mats Hummels is set to join Manchester United, and the same paper have followed it up with the news that the Iron Tulip is targeting Nathaniel Clyne, Arturo Vidal, Aymeric Laporte and Paul Pogba.
Nathaniel Clyne is a signing that looks inevitable, the 24-year old is likely to leave Southampton this summer and United have been crying out for a right-back since Gary Neville left.
We all know about Arturo Vidal, and the Chilean has once again been superb for Juventus this season, however that signature would come at a price.
Aymeric Laporte is one of the most talented young defenders out there at the moment, but I’d much prefer to see his French compatriot Raphael Varane come through the Old Trafford entrance.
Finally we have the United old-boy Paul Pogba. He left the club in acrimonious circumstances a few years ago, and has gone on to become one of the best midfielders in the world. Would I take him back at United despite a hefty fee? In a heartbeat I would. He’s fantastic.
Which of these would be good signings? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
