Manchester United seemingly have settled on Nicolas Otamendi as the number one defensive target for the club this summer, but they have been told that the towering Argentinian will cost the club £35million, and not a penny less.
According to the Daily Star, United value Otamendi at somewhere around the £20million mark but Valencia are prepared to flat-out reject all offers less than the £35million valuation – which is believed to be his release clause.
The 27-year old has had a fantastic year in Spain, and has recently emerged as one of the best centre-backs in the league. That was backed up when he was named in La Liga’s Team of the Season alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United need a commanding centre-back as its something they’ve lacked since they lost Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. It was clear that the inexperience of the current group showed at times this season, and if you add at least one senior figure to that then it’d drastically improve our back line.
