Manchester United are bracing themselves as Real Madrid are readying a bid for David de Gea, according to reports. In an attempt to ward them off, United have slapped a huge £50million price tag on the 24-year old Spaniard, according to The Express.
De Gea has just eighteen months left to run on his current deal at Old Trafford, and the Manchester United hierarchy are currently readying a new £200,000-a-week contract for the shot-stopper.
United are resigned to the fact that they know De Gea will eventually make the move to the Bernabeu, but the board are doing all they can to get an extra couple of years out of the Spain international.
If De Gea refuses to sign a new deal at the club, United will be forced to sell him this coming summer in a cut price deal due to him entering the last year of his contract. That’d be a huge blow, and United won’t get anywhere near his regular market value if thats the case.
