Manchester United had an average term last time around, as Louis van Gaal did exactly what was expected by guiding United to a top four finish. Now the club must kick on and go one better this coming campaign.
To do that, the club need a new centre-back, and reports in Spain are suggesting that Nicolas Otamendi is close to sealing a £25million move to Manchester United – a great bit of business if true.
Otamendi would be the perfect centre-half for United this term. The towering Argentinian would be that commanding figure the club have lacked over the last season or so, and he also chips in with a few goals which is a nice bonus.
£25million for a player of his calibre seems extremely cheap, and he would be a fantastic addition in all aspects of the game, including leadership, defensive ability and calmness at the heart of the defence.
