Man Utd will NOT bid for Nicolas Otamendi this summer

Manchester United are clearly in the hunt for a centre-back this summer, but Louis van Gaal still hasn’t purchased one, and we’re just 11 days away from the start of the Premier League season, its of slight concern that we still haven’t signed anyone in that area.

One player who Manchester United will not be bidding for this summer is the Argentine Nicolas Otamendi. According to the Manchester Evening News in an exclusive, Otamendi never has been a target for Louis van Gaal and therefore won’t be making the switch.

This would come as a bit of a surprise, particularly as United’s back line is so young and inexperienced, the 27-year old Otamendi would certainly bring that.

It looks as though Louis van Gaal clearly has other targets identified, and once again the media look clueless as to who they are. Hopefully the Iron Tulip has a trick up his sleeve…

Would Otamendi be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. The signing of Otamendi would have been good for MU. Unless strong and talented defenders are recruited, there is no chance for PL title this year. I will not be surprised if MC recruits him. Sometimes MU bosses behaves very foolishly. They depended on Ramos whose transfer was never in the card. We look forward to watch new rumours again for defender with disappointment at the end.

  2. If Man Utd wish to challenge for the title, their shaky defence needs rebuilding and this issue is of PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE. All title winning teams have a solid defence e.g EPL champions Chelsea have Ivamnovic,Terry, Cahill and Azpiliqueta. So for Man Utd is either sign a solid defender otherwise their goal next season will be retaining fourth position which won’t be acheived easily. So it’s either they sign an experienced centre back or they end up missing CL footaball
