Man United are ready to make their move to sign Rennes midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United are improving. The Old Trafford club have signed Jadon Sancho, though there’s still one or two gaps to fill in the squad.
Amongst them is the need for another top-level midfielder. Bruno Fernandes has that attacking-midfield spot on lockdown, while Paul Pogba has been brilliant of late.
Now, it’s about finding the perfect complimentary piece. That’s where Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga comes in. Suddenly, the teenager seems like a top priority for the Old Trafford outfit.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given his take. He writes that United will ‘try to sign’ the midfielder this summer, as competition in Camavinga will only increase next time around as he’d be a free agent.
What’s interesting here is that Camavinga is open to a Reds switch, with United now ‘pushing’ to get a deal done. Solskjaer won’t have it all his own way, though, with Paris Saint-Germain interested too.
I like Camavinga. This kid plays with a maturity beyond his years and I don’t doubt he’d be able to slot right into our starting line-up from day one.
He’s someone who would be an absolute steal at around £25million, particularly as you could easily get 10-15 years service out of the Frenchman all being well.
My only concern is that you can never truly know whether someone can adapt to playing in a new league. That’s made even harder due to Camavinga being so young in age. Every single transfer made has some risk element to it, but this one could genuinely go either way.
In an ideal world, United can sign the ready-made midfielder who can come in and do a world-class job, allowing Pogba and Fernandes to solely concentrate on the attack. Is Camavinga that guy? No, but he is immensely talented.
