Man Utd willing to double defenders salary if he joins Mourinho at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s squad has had a major facelift under Jose Mourinho already, with the self-proclaimed Special One doing his best to improve the line-up before the window slams shut in just over one week.

Jose Mourinho loves to develop and help defenders grow, namely centre-backs. At Chelsea he had Kurt Zouma, United he bought Eric Bailly, and Real Madrid he had Raphael Varane.

The latter in that list has been linked with a move to United for a while now, and according to Cadena Cope, Jose Mourinho offered to double the wages of the Frenchman if he made the move to the Theatre of Dreams.

This shows just how highly regarded Raphael Varane is. As a young centre-back, he has all the attributes to become one of the best in the world one day, and what a monumental signing he’d be.

However, I just don’t see Real Madrid taking that big of a risk allowing a player of his calibre to walk away from the Santiago Bernabeu. Let’s face it, Sergio Ramos and Pepe aren’t getting any younger, and you’d imagine Varane will be getting increased minutes on the pitch with each passing season.
