Louis van Gaal does not want to wait until next summer to launch a bid for AS Roma’s Kevin Strootman, according to the Daily Mirror. However, any potential bid being made could be down to Manchester City’s progression in the Champions League. If City win, Strootman’s price would be dropped due to Roma going out of European football for another season.
United believe that Roma’s valuation of Strootman is closer to £60million, but Louis van Gaal reckons that if Roma lose, that valuation will immediately drop to the £30million mark – making him a possible option in the winter window.
The 24-year old started his first game for his club side since he returned from ligament damage, and on the whole he did quite well. He kept things neat, made a few nice passes and didn’t shirk a tackle despite being out for so long.
There is no doubt that Strootman would be a fantastic addition to a midfield that is already looking pretty good at the moment. I’m not sure who you drop to accommodate the Dutchman though….
