Man Utd’s pursuit of Kevin Strootman comes to a halt

It looks as though Manchester United’s pursuit of Kevin Strootman will be put on hold until the summer at least, as the Dutch midfielder has been ruled out of action with a knee injury. The extent of the problem is yet to be determined, but it isn’t thought to be that serious.

AS Roma’s manager Rudi Garcia said: “The doctor has seen it and it seems that it isn’t a serious injury.

“But with a knee we must always be careful.

“Let’s see what happens in the next few hours, he has already suffered so much with knee injuries.”

Its quite clear that Louis van Gaal wants Strootman to be a part of his new-look Manchester United side, and the deal was always going to be more likely to happen in the summer window. AS Roma aren’t going to want to part with one of their best players, and United weren’t going to gamble on a player who had been out injured for almost a year with a serious injury.
