Manchester United Football Club are looking rather slim in terms of centre-back options ahead of the new season. Jose Mourinho has added Eric Bailly to the playing squad, but despite that, numbers in that key area of the field are looking extremely limited.
It could well get even more strained, too. That’s according to Duncan Castles in the Daily Record, who is refusing to rule out Phil Jones making the move to newly-promoted Hull City during this transfer window.
United would be open to let 24-year-old Jones leave if the right offer comes in, and Hull are clearly keen on making the deal happen, but are yet to make a formal offer.
They’re luring Jones in by suggesting he’ll get regular playing time that could well see him turn into one of England’s leading defenders.
It would be a shame to see Jones leave the club because he came in with so much promise, but injuries have seriously stunted his development and progress as a player.
