Manchester United are a club known for developing players through their youth ranks, and letting these players flourish in the first-team thereafter. Sir Matt Bubsy famously said ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough’ but with the club becoming more about the here and now, chances have been limited.
One of those players is Andreas Pereira, a young Brazilian who has been shining for the clubs U21s for a couple of seasons now. He is a raw talent who on his day, can win games of football on his own. It seems as though he is ready to make the step up to first-team action, but United clearly don’t feel he is ready just yet.
According to the Mail, he could follow in Paul Pogba’s footsteps and leave the club on a free transfer this summer – both in the search for more money as well as more playing time.
We all know how Paul Pogba developed into the world-beater he is today, and surely Manchester United are better giving Pereira whatever he wants to stay, rather than risk losing another gem in a couple of years.
