Over the summer, Manchester United completed a deal to sign Brazil international Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Red Devils definitely needed reinforcements in midfield, and we’ve certainly seen glimpses of his talent.
Before his switch to Old Trafford, Manchester City were also keen on acquiring his signature. However, that move never came to fruition. According to his agent, Arsenal icon Gilberto Silva, per The Metro, Pep Guardiola’s men actually offered more money to the 25-year-old…
However, that was in January and Shakhtar weren’t prepared to let him leave at that current time. It’s unclear as to whether City returned with a bid over the summer, but Silva does add that he’s currently on less money than what he would’ve been if he moved to The Etihad…
Fred is a clever little player when in possession. He loves to get forward and join in on the attack, that’s where his strength lies. Once he fully adapts to the team and United’s style of play, i’ve no doubt that we’ve got a real star on our hands. You also have to admire his feisty side, he’s sort of like Ander Herrera in that regard, but far more offensive-minded.
