Manchester is Red?

Ahead of the Manchester derby, Virgin Media have decided to run a Twitter poll asking fans who they think would win the match. The votes will be added up and the Town Hall in Manchester will light up in proportion to how many votes are cast for each club. The competition runs until 12:30pm on Sunday afternoon.

At the moment, United have far more votes than their local rivals. A staggering 15,500 votes in favour of United have been cast, compared to a mere 1,600 from City fans. At the current rate 89% of the Town Hall will be turned red.

15% of the Tweets (2,900) in favour of United have come from the Manchester area, compared to 35% of City’s (576).

In terms of celebrity fans, club legend Peter Schemichel and presenter Melanie Sykes both got involved in favour of United, whereas Franny Lee voted for City.

If you have Twitter, get involved by tweeting the hashtag #VMRed #DerbyDay.
