Manchester United have added some serious quality to the first-team squad in Jose Mourinho’s first transfer window as boss. Now attentions have seemingly switched focus to the youth setup, and more acquisitions in that area are looking likely.
The Scottish Daily Record (via Sport Witness), say that Manchester United are the frontrunners to sign Scottish wonderkid, Matthew Knox. The 16-year-old has been targeted by other Premier League sides, including both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, but it looks as though United have won the race.
Knox, a midfielder, has already had a trial at Carrington, and this week he is set for a second opportunity to impress the high quality coaches at United’s training ground.
The young man has only burst onto the scene recently, having only making his first-team debut for Livingston in December, but has endured a meteoric rise to fame over the last six months.
This is obviously a transfer for the future, and it’s always tough to know whether or not players of such a tender age will make it, but it’s certainly worth the gamble.
