Manchester United have beaten Manchester City to the signature of 16-year-old wonderkid, Lukasz Bejger, according to the Manchester Evening News, per The Metro.
The Red Devils have had scouts watching the centre-back play on numerous occasions, before handing Bejger a trial. After impressing club officials, United have made their move for the Pole, who’ll join the club on a youth contract.
You just have to love the work Nicky Butt is doing at the academy right now. We have Tahith Chong, Aliou Traore, Millen Baars plus a whole host of top talents.
Signing Bejger, who can also play on the right-hand side of defence, just shows how determined the club are to continue those youth traditions that have been part of Manchester United for decades.
Sure, you never know exactly how moves will turn out, because some young talents develop whereas others don’t, but for the minimal wage he’ll be receiving, it’s worth the risk to nurture and improve Bejger as a player. I certainly get the impression that this young man could well be a household name over the next five years.
Plus, it’s always nice to get one over on your old foes, eh?
