Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho is set to become Manchester United’s first big summer signing, according to the Sunday People and The Mirror. Carvalho, 21, has a £37m release clause in his current contract, which United are prepared to activate before the World Cup starts on June 12th.
The Angolan-born midfielder as caught the eye of the elite European clubs this season, and it’d be a real coup if United could pull this one off before the World Cup. The players agent was apparently given a tour of Carrington last week, and it is expected the deal will be penned before the end of June.
If true, its great that United are already focusing on getting a team together for next season. If we’re being honest, this season is gone now in terms of domestic football and all we have to go for is the Champions League. United’s transfer team must now get to work and get as much business done as possible before the World Cup in Brazil.
