Manchester United already planning contract talks for key figure after summer arrival

Over the summer, Manchester United took the bold decision to bring in Jose Mourinho – a manager who has had plenty of success down the years, but with that comes drama. The self-proclaimed Special One signed on a three-year contract, but that could already be extended…

According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho will sit down with Manchester United and discuss the option of extending his contract by a further twelve months, with United chiefs believing he is the man to return the ‘glory days’ back to the Theatre of Dreams.

If he does indeed sign an extension, it’d mean the Portuguese coach will be at the club until 2022, and the report adds that his wage will not be increased – but there could be bonuses and incentives based on his successes.

For me, Jose is 100% the man to take this great club forward. He’s proven in England and won trophies galore. It has always felt like he’d manage Manchester United one day, and given time, I believe he’ll deliver some brilliant results – and most importantly, fill up that trophy cabinet some more.

The aim this season has to be a top four finish. Although the club managed to attract some big names without Champions League football on offer for this season, playing in Europe’s premier competition is essential going forward.
