Mats Hummels is believed to be at the centre of a tug of war between Manchester United and Barcelona, as the two clubs are trying to prise the German centre-back away from Borussia Dortmund this summer. Hummels, 26, is currently enjoying the World Cup with Germany – having scored two goals in the competition.
The Express reckon United and Barcelona are both in for Hummels, but it is unlikely Dortmnd will want to lose another big name after Lewandowski made the move to Bayern Munich on a free transfer.
Last week, reports suggested that Manchester United were readying a final £20million take it or leave it offer for Hummels, however i doubt that’;; be enough to tempt Dortmund into selling him.
I personally feel Hummels is one of the finest centre-backs in the world, alongside the likes of Thiago Silva and Vincent Kompany. He’d be a great addition to any side, and if we could bag his signature alongside the likes of Arturo Vidal, we’d definitely be competing for the title next year.

£32.5m at least, but if Shaw is valued at £30m Hummels is easily £50
If it is a tug of war between us and Barca then i fully expect us to be dragged over the line on our backsides..
Get him now…less of the bullshit 15m and kawaga
He is the best cb in the world!! So man u please sign him even if they ask 40 million
while everyone I know at BVB would love to have Kagawa back, there is luckily very very little chance of Mats leaving this summer. And I totally agree with Samee, it is almost indecent to think of paying 32,5 mio for Shaw and trying to get Hummels for 20. Not a lot ao appreciation…
I think we should get him. However, I don’t think he is available. We’ll probably end up with someone from the Holland squad and Vermaelen. I won’t mind that if we get another world class midfielder.
