Yesterday major media outlets broke the huge news that David de Gea was in talks with Manchester United about the possibility of signing a new contract at Old Trafford, and today those claims have been backed up by reports in Spain.
According to Onda Cero, Jorge Mendes has been at Carrington negotiating that new agreement and a deal is thought to be close, as both parties are keen on getting a new contract signed within the next few days.
What a massive boost this would be for Manchester United. It’ll give the club the upper-hand once again, and at the very least they will get a decent transfer fee for one of the best goalkeepers in the world when he eventually moves back home to Real Madrid.
It remains unclear as to whether the Liga BBVA side will come back in for De Gea next summer, but it does look as though that move will go through at some point.
