Transfer Talk: Manchester United are still chasing Eliaquim Mangala

The rumours linking Manchester United and Eliaquim Mangala seemingly won’t go away. The Porto centre-back came close to signing for rivals Manchester City in January, but the deal couldn’t go through in time for various reasons.

Many expected Manchester City to be leading the race for his signature in the summer transfer window, but that hasn’t been the case. The player himself openly admitted that a move to Chelsea would be more appealing due to the London location, but it looks as though Chelsea aren’t interested in the 23-year old.

This morning the Daily Star claim that Manchester United look set to battle for the £36million rated man, as Porto are trying to hold out for a huge transfer fee for their star.

Manchester United need players, and world class ones at that. Other clubs know this and will try to take advantage by asking for as much money as possible due to the current situation we find ourselves in.

Personally I’ve not watched Mangala much, but heard good things about his playing style and suitability to the English game.

Would Mangala be the ideal centre-back for Manchester United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box!

  1. If he prefers to be in London then we are better off not signing him. We want players who will bleed Man U. not mercenary’s.
