Manchester United were beaten by Liverpool to the signature of talented English defender, Diego Lattie, according to the Liverpool Echo. Lattie, 16, agreed to a deal in which he was released by former club Manchester City, chose the red half of Merseyside over a whole host of clubs, including United.
The boyhood Liverpool fan has represented England at U17 level, and has already begun training with his new club – leaving United, amongst many others, disappointed that they weren’t able to land the talented prospect.
With him supporting the Anfield club as a boy, it was always going to be tough to persuade him to join their fiercest of rivals, but United’s intentions on trying to promote and develop youth is clear.
Its always best to stick with what you know, and although they have missed out on Diego Lattie this time, there will be plenty more highly regarded teenagers whom Manchester United will be trying to lure to Old Trafford as we approach the summer transfer window.
