Manchester United boosted in pursuit of midfielder as club lower asking price: report

Manchester United’s summer window has been a rather quiet one as of right now, with Jose Mourinho sealing a deal for Victor Lindelof. Outside of the acquisition of the 22-year-old Swede, there has been a lot of chatter, but not any solid information.

Today, The Metro quote German media outlet Kicker, who are claiming that Bayern Munich have lowered their asking price for midfielder Renato Sanches.

They say that the club are now after £26million to let the extremely talented Portuguese player to leave Bavaria this summer, as opposed to the £30million that they were originally asking for.

Just last month, Mourinho was linked with a potential move to sign his fellow countryman after Sanches’ time at Bayern hasn’t exactly gone to plan. A lack of real game time must be highly frustrating for the energetic central midfielder, and I get the impression that he is ready to move on after just twelve months in Germany.

He’s quite clearly an immensely talented young man, and it wasn’t that long ago when he was one of the stars of EURO 2016, lighting up the tournament with his breathtaking ability both on and off the ball.

Acquiring a player with such immense potential for around £26million is a steal in the modern day market, and if Mourinho can find a regular spot in the starting line-up for him, then this would be an astute piece of business.
