Manchester United confirm agreement in place to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is coming home.

I am absolutely stunned. Manchester United have confirmed that an agreement is in place to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

After twelve years away from Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo is coming back home.

Just a few hours ago, it looked for all the world like Ronaldo would be heading to Manchester City. Then, in stepped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with a little bit of help from Bruno Fernandes.

The official statement actually went as far as breaking the club website momentarily, which gives you an idea about how monumental this deal is.

It’s worth noting that this is all subject to the agreement personal terms, which shouldn’t be a problem given United are amongst the richest clubs in the world. Plus, the money they’ll get back by having a player like Ronaldo on the books will make it all worth it.

Sadly, we’ll now be made to wait for a Ronaldo debut, but you’d imagine it’ll come at home to Newcastle United in two weeks time, given the fitness of the 36-year-old star.

Does this make us title contenders again? Absolutely, but we shouldn’t kid ourselves into thinking it’s a done deal. This is a Ronaldo who is past his best, but this is a Ronaldo who can single-handedly lift teams due to his sheer presence.

At this point, I’m still pretty speechless. Never in my wildest dreams did I think United would be able to pull this off and they’ve done it in about three hours from start to finish. Seriously, all credit to those who have worked so quickly to make this happen.

CR7. Ronaldo. Back at United. Unreal scenes. Happy Friday lads and lasses!
