When Alexis Sanchez joined Manchester United in January 2018, piano playing and all, I was frothing at the mouth with excitement.
The Chilean was amongst the best players in the country at Arsenal. It was only natural that he’d regain that form with a move to Old Trafford, right?
Wrong. Eighteen months on, United have now confirmed that Sanchez will join Inter Milan on a season-long loan deal. No doubt the Old Trafford outfit will still be paying a large chunk of his wages, mind…
Sometimes, situations just don’t work out. Sanchez seemed destinated to fail from day one and injuries certainly haven’t helped his case. No doubt he’ll go on to enjoy success in Italy, but first it’s about keeping himself fit and off the treatment table.
I, for one, hope he succeeds in the Serie A. That’s the best chance we have at selling him on a permanent deal when next summer rolls around.
Credit to Inter, by the way. Sanchez is the second cast-off they’ve taken off our hands this summer. Do they have room for a centre-half? Phil Jones, lads?
As the infamous #7 curse continues, who next to take up the mantle? Please don’t give it to Mason Greenwood eh, Ole?
